Been sometime since I had ramen, and this round went to check out Ramen Keisuke at Paya Lebar Square. As per the other outlets there's free flow of hard boiled eggs and beansprouts. I just love the beansprouts. Actually truth be told, it's the beansprouts that keeps drawing me back to Keisuke ramen:)
Ordered a Black Tonkatsu King with seaweed. Thick hearty broth, good stuff.

Issho Izakaya @ Kallang Wave, Singapore.
First time checking out Kallang Wave, quite surprised as there's quite a few restaurants and makan places here. Anyway main reason was to recce this Jap place as I saw the happy hour promotions not bad. Came here for lunch first to look see look see.
Ordered a Bara Chirashi Don, costs 22sgd++. At first glance the bowl does look pretty and it came with a quail egg, nice touch to it. The shot glass accompanying it was the shoyu so you can pour accordingly on top. Food is decent, staff was attentive and friendly.
If there's one gripe about this place, I was a bit hampered by the portion, a bit small compared to other places. Don't get me wrong, normally by the end of a chirashi bowl, I'll get a bit jelak(too rich) and it fills up my tummy. This round I needed something extra to fill up the spot. I guess rental is high this days? Oh well did I mention they have pretty good deals for happy hours on weekdays? Check out their website.

Bali Nasi Lemak @ Geylang, Singapore.
At last I managed to check out this nasi lemak joint in Geylang. A favourite haunt for late night supper.
Luckily I got here round 7ish pm on a Saturday, not many people. Decided to do a take away.

Nasi lemak with the works for 5sgd. Ordered honey black chicken wings, fried egg, petai, hebe, ikan bilis and extra sambal. I reckon the chicken wings was damn shiok, as it was a bit sweet from the honey, should have ordered an extra one. All in all this is a decent plate of nasi lemak.

Happy Crab @ Pahang Street, Singapore.
Two crabs feast in one week? I don't normally eat this much crabs, but hey when a bunch of them suggested this place for dinner, I couldn't pass, as this joint has been on my radar for a very long time.
They specialise in grilled crabs, and each crab is fully loaded with roe. Portion is decent, plenty of flesh, and they only use salt and black pepper to season it.
Pure awesome rich goodness, phewww I'm salivating while writing this. Anyway make sure you order 1 crab per person. You do not want to be sharing this.
Sorry for the bad picture, hands were all messy from devouring the crabs. This was the crispy pase pase fish. A must order and again one piece each.
Prawns with sauteed garlic, I find it so so.
Clams in white wine sauce and garlic, I liked it, kinda refreshing, loved the sauce.
Seafood hor fun, good dish, the hor fun had the wok hei, and plenty of seafood stuff on it. Although we forgot to order the bbq squid (which i'll definitely get it next round), overall was a very good and satisfying dinner.

Crab Bee Hoon @ Long Ji, Tiong Bahru, Singapore.
A friend of mine was in town and were staying in a nearby hotel. Wanted some local food, went Sin Hoi Sai previously, did some googling, this place getting a bit of good reviews and off we went. Bear in mind we did a walked in, luckily they had a spot for the two of us, saw a few people got turned away. Do make a reservation in advance.
We ordered a venison dish, this reminds me back of some old school cantonese eateries, the meat was tender and flavourful.
The star of this place is the crab bee hoon. Crab was huge, a lot of flesh, the bee hoon was portioned generously as well. The broth? Killer, I was actually slurping more of the broth than eating the crab itself.
Although, the picture doesn't show prawns, it's heavily coated with cereals, another tasty dish. Coffee shop setting, good food, nice neighbourhood, friendly staff, I can see myself returning back here.

P.s. There's no english signage, corner coffee shop behind Sin Hoi Sai, next/facing to Tiong Bahru Bakery.

Laksa Sarawak @ Haig Road Market and Foood Centre, Singapore.
Been some time since I've been back at this food centre, guess I gotta check out this place more as I've found a good stall serving Laksa Sarawak. Oh they sell Kolo mee too.
6sgd a pop, quite an expensive bowl, but the portions are generous, loads of shredded chicken and egg, plus 4 prawns.
Taste wise, damn, reminds me of another stall in KL, but this tasted even better. Sourish, spicy and peppery, it hits all the right spot. This bowl was gulped down clean, minus the prawn heads and shells of course.

Syed Cafe @ Simpang Bedok, Singapore.
I actually wanted to go and check out Bedok Market but the place wasn't opened so early. Ended up at Syed Cafe for prata instead.
Front facade with the seating area at the back.
Ordered an onion egg prata, generous amounts of fish curry on top, with a dollop of sambal ikan bilis on the side. One of the better pratas I've tasted in Singapore, good stuff.

Victor Fried Chicken Wing Rice @ Veerasamy Road, Singapore.
Once in a while I'll go do some lunch hunting to tapau back for the office, this round decided to give this place a go.
Situated off Jalan Besar in a coffee shop.
A standard pack of fried chicken wings rice comes with two wings costs 2.50sgd! Good stuff, I took an extra piece at 1 sgd just in case it wasn't enough. Reminds me of home style fried chicken wings, pair it with the chilli sauce, just beautiful.

Ayam Penyet Express @ KL Sentral, Malaysia.
I didn't know about this wing in KL Sentral, and boy was I happy as there's a few eateries here and one of them is Ayam Penyet. So this round before flying back, did a quick stop before taking the train.
They have four types of sambal for you to choose from, love the red sambal. Careful, addictive and super spicy.
Ordered an ayam penyet set, comes with a bowl of soup (a tad oily), tofu and tempeh on the sides, a bit of salad and flattened chicken with crunchy bits on top(yummy!). I like to smother the rice with the thick soya sauce for a bit of sweet, mix in a bit of sambal, both flavours complement each other nicely. Chicken was good, just as I remembered it the last time I had it, guess they have good quality control. The cabbage with a dollop of sambal and eaten on its own, super super delicious. Call it fast food or a franchise, I love this ayam penyet.

Sushi Zanmai @ Nu Sentral, KL, Malaysia.
A quick hop to Nu Sentral for lunch found myself in this Japanese restaurant. Needed some light food before going back to the hotel and recover from last night fiasco.
Gindara teriyaki.
And sake zanmai, basically sushi with the salmon works. Good stuff, hits the right spot. Wash it down with a couple of hot sake, lovely lunch.

Rennie's House Of Oxtail @ Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
I've heard of this place for quite some time, this round I made it a point to check it out as a buddy of mine was raving about it.
Old school neighbourhood pub, no frills joint where you go and have good conversation over some beers with a bunch of friends.
And the reason I'm here today is to check out the oxtail soup, served in a claypot.
Comes with a side of garlic bread. Now after sampling the soup, or should I call it stew, I immediately know why people was raving about the oxtail soup. It bring backs this nostalgic feeling which reminds me of my childhood growing up eating this type of dish on the road or some guest houses. You don't get this kind of good quality soup anymore, maybe I'm bias as the soup invokes some pleasant old memories or maybe I was a bit tipsy hahhh:) Whatever it is, there's no doubt this is one mean bowl of oxtail soup.
