Hameed Pata Special Mee Sotong @ Esplanade Park, Penang, Malaysia.

Last round I was in Penang, didn't manage to check out this place. This round die die I walked all the way from hotel to get to this place. Not far but still under the scorching heat I was drenched. Lo and behold worth the walk.

One thing I loved about Malaysia, some places though, you order and you go wait at your table and the food will be delivered.

Took me about 15-20 minutes before this marvelous mee goreng and the umami sotong to be served.
Totally worth the walk. The mee goreng is your normal mee goreng mamak with a slight better taste to it. The sotong in its umami flavouring, arghhh to die for. Mix everything up, plain freaking heaven. It was so good till I ain't ubering, gonna walk back to the hotel to wash this sin out.

And of course if you come here, gotta try the coconut milkshake. Good, nuff said.

Char Koew Teow @ Kedai Kopi Sin Guat Keong, Penang, Malaysia.

As I was staying at Kimberley area, first time actually, did some googling. Wah there's a street food just a walk from my hotel. Nice! So off I went hunting for this ckt cart which is situated in front of Kedai Kopi Sin Guat Keong.

You can't miss it. Was tempted to try the asam laksa from another stall but better don't be a glutton.

The uncle diligently cooking the ckt on a charcoal fire. The aunty picking up the order was also nice and friendly.

Ordered a ckt standard plate top up with mantis prawn. The koew teow definitely had a bit of wok hei. It's a good plate, but I think based on the online reviews, I had higher hopes. Don't get me wrong, still a decent plate of ckt if you're in the area.

Union Street Kareem Pasembur @ Penang, Malaysia.

Just arrived at airport, friend picked me up and off we went to this pasembur place. Pasembur is basically an indian rojak drenched in a yummy sauce. My first time coming to this stall.

It says open from 11am to 7pm, by the time we got here was slightly after 5pm, almost all of the ingredients was gone. Luckily there was a bit of sotong left. The ingredients ranges from potato, egg, tofu, prawn fritters, fishballs etc. It's similar like a ytf but indian style. The sotong was superb, the gravy? Even more addictive. A good bowl of pasembur.

Saveur Thai @ Kaki Bukit, Singapore.

Was in the area running errands and so happen there was a Thai makan place.

Prices look pretty decent. Ordered a seafood tomyam soup with white rice.

Soup was good, pretty spicy, portion was generous. I actually slurped the whole soup till the last drop. Yummy. The thai ice milk tea nicely balanced out my burning toungue.

I actually enjoyed eating here, came back few days later to try the chicken basil on rice. No complains, equally good. I wonder how their boat noodle taste like, hmmmm........

Swee Choon Dim Sum Restaurant @ Jalan Besar, Singapore.

Finallyyy I got myself here after some drinking session for supper. The problem with dim sum, you wanna try everything. It doesn't help when you have a few people post happy hour sessions and go nuts ordering.

Yes yes the picture menu helps us ordering everything:)

The cold chicken was a good appetiser to start building up the appetite.

Fried foo chuk is definitely a must order for something greasy.

The ccf for me was a killer. Although slightly thick it was still yummy. Crispy fish skin was the other addictive dish.

The hor fun oh my, wah tah hor had a slight hint of wok hei in it. Just see the nice layer of egg in it would drool you.

Their star item here is the fried mee sua. I like it but when I had the carrot cake below, by all means thumbs up for the carrot cake.

Food galore, or don let the drunkards order food. There was hit and misses with some dishes but overall I'll definitely be back here. The food is good and now that I sampled some of the dishes, I know which one to be left out. That's my personal choice though, by all means do try all the dishes!

Katong Laksa @ Changi Road, Singapore.

First time coming here, friend brought me here for breakfast as I had a sudden craving for laksa. It's situated in a coffee shop at the corner of Telok Kurau Road and Changi Road.

Ordered a laksa with extra cockles. This is definitely one superb bowl of laksa, not too jelak as I normally kena 3/4 way of eating a bowl. I think I've found another favourite for laksa, as the other one being Janggut.

Bonus there's a stall here selling carrot cake, seems quite famous also and super delicious. A must order for sharing!

Pondok Pantai Timur @ Ubi, Singapore.

Had to send the bike for service, a very good friend was nice to pick me up from workshop and he kidnapped me here for lunch. Oh my, what a freaking good lunch it was, didn't know there was a makan place here.

The queue was pretty long, but trust me it's damn worth it. Plus the queue goes by quite fast.

We ordered a plate of chicken innards/spare parts to share.

The ayam penyet, nicely pounded chicken thigh lying on a hotbed of umami sambal power. This is seriously good, why didn't I find out this place earlier, grrrrrr.

Raimah Eating House @ Kembangan, Singapore.

Back to Raimah again, and this time I was craving for a maggi goreng. A maggi goreng mutton to be exact. Nicely done with some pieces charred.

And what a better way to wash it down with a glass of teh tarik. Simple breakfast, sinful but yummy.

Kedai Makanan Nam Chuan @ Bangsar, KL, Malaysia

Back to one of my favourite coffee shops in Lucky Garden for breakfast. As I was still recovering from my hangover, needed something soupy and light. There was a stall selling Ipoh hor fun, just what I needed.

Dry soya sauce koew teow, just lovely.

With a bowl of yong tau foo on the side in light broth soup. No complains, simple breakfast, food for the soul.

Kedai Makanan Soo Kee Mee @ Imbi, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This restaurant is famous for its noodles and some other sze char dishes. The sang hai mein in particular is a must order if you ever drop by this restaurant. Thankfully, after all this years, the quality and standard still remains top notch.

But this round we opted for the beef hor fun, paper wrapped chicken and some greens. The beef hor fun was silky smooth, generous portions of sliced beef which was very tender and yes, the wok hei is still there. The paper wrapped chicken was my other personal favourite, simply to die for.

Restoran Sambal Hijau @ Kampung Sungai Penchala, KL, Malaysia.

Malay rice? Nasi Padang? I don't know, the lines are blurred here. All I know this is definitely one place to get your economy rice with mind boggling number of dishes. Okay, won't be that economy if you keep piling on the dishes like me.

When I saw they had ikan patin masak tempoyak (some fancy fresh water fish in yellow gravy doused with fermented durian with chilli padi blended inside) I had to take it. The only missing thing was the raw petai/smelly beans, which I'm sure they had it, but I think the plate was getting a bit crowded. Fried chicken drumtick, paru/beef lungs, beef tendon and you have to get the star item, the sambal hijau. The quality of food over the years has still remained, absolutely divine. The only difference, the crowd has picked up, when I mean picked up, in droves. Thankfully wasn't long to get a table.

ShuKuu Izakaya @ Stanley St, Singapore.

Happy hours and some izakaya, off we went to ShuKuu.

The fish was recommended by the staff. Seriously goes well with the beer. The flesh was firm, a bit salty but definitely yummy.

The crab gratin mentaiko was a must order dish. This is comfort food.

Think this was the beef, it's not bad. The chicken tsukune below was more flavourful. Another favourite.

Some other chicken spareparts, which I'm sure one of it was the chicken heart. If you never tried one before, I urge you to try one, it's really good.

Beer, sake and some good bites. Can't complain much about this place. As we left the place around 8ish pm, the place was packed. I think most of them did reservation. Also I have to mention the staff was efficient and friendly. Nice.

Two Wings @ The Pinnacle, Singapore.

Half a chicken with cheesy fries and onion rings. The sides were good but the star here is the fried chicken. Love the crispy skin batter. The piquant sambal chilli was a nice addition.

I know the angle was bad, was in a hurry to devour the chicken. The sets were decently priced too. Also worth to mention is this atas kopi tiam called Essen. Big airy spaces with a nice mix of stalls. And the drink stall sells beers too.

Soon Huat Traditional Teochew Fishball Noodles @ Geylang, Singapore.

One of my quiet breakfast places happen to be in this coffee shop. This stall serves an awesome mee pok dry fishball noodles.

Ordered some fish cakes to share.

Noodles was al dente, fishballs were springy, the dry sambal concoction was good. A good quick fix for my mee pok fishball craving.

Geylang Lor 29 Fried Hokkien Mee @ East Coast Road, Singapore.

Came here for lunch and I gotta admit, this is a good plate of fried hokkien mee.

The portion was big, not stingy on the ingredients and the wok hei is there. Bonus tip, order the orh luak/oyster omelette to share.

Plumpy oysters and I like the style of the omelette, a bit gooey.
