Lubuk Bangku Cafe @ Bangsar, KL, Malaysia.

Time for a heavy lunch and off we check out this place for some Malay rice. Boy is this place packed, this is true testament as if you serve good food, people would come from all over.

There was only three of us, two being first timers, we went nut in the ordering department. Must order would be the daging salai masak lemak(smoked beef in spicy yellow gravy). We had some omelettes, some taugeh and ulam for a balanced diet.

Weird dish on the menu was butter chicken, totally non malay but heck it sure tasted good. Oh top right in the pic is this beef dish, absolutely gorgeous, meat was super soft and tender.

Some catfish, ayam kampung two styles, one fried and the other drenched in sambal hijau.

The daging salai, superb. Mannn, no wonder this place is full with people, food here is extremely good. Been a long time since I've tasted some really good malay rice with dishes.

Gerai Udang Galah Mak Ngah @ Kuala Rompin, Pahang, Malaysia.

On the way back from Pulau Tioman we stopped by to check out this stretch of r&r famous for their udang galah. Decided to go for Mak Ngah based on google hits. They have all sorts of udang galah cooked in different style and also fresh/frozen for you to tapau back.

Ordered the fresh water prawn cooked in spicy style, dollop of mix gravy on white rice with half a salted egg. My first time trying this type of cooking, ie udang galah malay style. Not bad, but I reckon gotta try a few more times different shops to see the difference and see what is good and what is mediocre.

Restoran Three Brothers @ Subang 2, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.

We got two tables here and with more people, more food to sample yay.

Fried bee hoon was good, egg was normal and broccoli was nice as well (ok, I'll be honest, this was for the kids menu, including me which I enjoyed aha).

Now let's move on for the adults, such a bias standard aren't we. Smoked tea chicken was my personal favourite. Below if I'm not mistaken was the egg tofu mushroom with fish roe.

Have to order the double boiled chicken soup, superb. I reckon this works well as a hangover dish. Below I think was the egg crab meat with fish roe, another dish I personally enjoyed.

Two styles of oysters we tried, raw and with garlic. Oysters were fresh and a bit huge.

Another vege dish and to top it off was the steam fish. Oh my the fish was done just right, completely blew my mind. Definitely a place to come for a good dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed my food here.

Restoran Lipis Di KL @ House of Patin @ KL, Malaysia.

Ah niceeeeeee another patin specialist so my friend claimed, had to go check it out. Located in a bungalow off Jalan Yap Kwan Seng. Menu is pretty straight forward.

Ordered a portion of the sambal hitam, sublime. Utterly delicious. The sambal petai ikan bilis tempoyak below was another personal favourite of mine. I can just wack this two sambals with plain white rice.

Two portions of patin tempoyak, so I was schooled today, this restaurant serves Kuala Lipis style of masak tempoyak, not for the faint hearted, spicy as hell, this is some good stuff. Also I find it a bit watery compared to the Temerloh Catering style which was thick. I mean to each his own but both style is equally delicious and I can have it everyday.

We also had the talapia pais, grilled talapia fish. Ohh man the gravy is nicely done. Below the ikan kerai bakar is a must order. I enjoyed my lunch here, definitely seeing me coming back here.

Uncle Cheng Special Beef Noodles @ PJ, Selangor, Malaysia.

Heard about this place, one weekend afternoon I was in the area, went to check it out. As usual I ordered the dry mix beef noodles.

Nice the lai fun noodles soaked everything up nicely. Portions were generous. Taste wise, superb, everything blended or complement each other perfect. Soup broth was just nice on cleansing the palate, not to overdone. So I was chatting with Uncle Cheng, enquiring whether his style of beef noodles was Seremban or Johor style. He firmly replied, Johor lah. Now here's the best part, I was like eh by any chance you're related to the beef noodles stall at the corner kopi shop at Jalan Lumba Kuda in JB. That was Uncle Cheng's uncle! Anyway cut story short, those who wants a good southern style beef noodles, you can get your dosage here in KL!

Restoran Cowan Street Ayam Tauge & Koitiau @ Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.

At last I managed to check out this place and boy was people queuing when the shop opened.

Ordered a portion of the poached chicken and a plate of taugeh. Chicken was excellent and taugeh was crunchy, done just right. Love it.

And a bowl of silky smooth hor fun to wash it all down. This place rocks, awesome food old school style.

Hokkien Mee @ Restoran Kim Lian Kee @ Petaling Street, KL, Malaysia.

So I was walking in to this restaurant and my friend dragged me out, we need to sit next to Hong Leong bank outside. I was like what the heck? You forego an aircon section and forced me to sit outside although both was Kim Lian Kee?

You gotta order the koew teow with the egg yolk dish, damn it's good. The lala below was good, broth had a nice umami taste to it.

The hokkien mee was the star of the night but I find the bee hoon below stole the show as I reckon it soaks out the sauce nicely. Damn all the dish was good. Now correct me if my friend was wrong, if you eat outside the dishes are cooked with charcoal. And if you dine inside the restaurant the aircon section it's all cook indoor with gas stoved. Well for me the outdoor section the food was tasty, not sure whether its the placebo effect.

Yeap you gotta order the extra bowl of umami to complement the meal.
