Gurney Drive Hawker Centre @ Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia.

Used to frequent here annually for our makan sessions, but last few rounds were a let down as it catered more to tourists or maybe lately, I just prefer to hunt individual dishes across island wide. This round my cousin did the ordering, and he being a regular here or should I say knows which stalls to order from, my faith is restored. I felt like a kid again sampling, enjoying and whacking all the dishes.

Look out for this stall for the asam laksa.

And this for the rojak.

This stall for sotong kangkung, century egg and snails.

Doesn't those look so appetising.

This stall for sotong bakar, sorry for bad picture, if your facing the asam laksa stall, same row on your left next to the drinks stall. Basically all the stalls are around the same vicinity/section.

From the rojak stall, we opted just small mangoes, super addictive, the raw sourish taste from the mangoes paired nicely with the rojak sauce.

Asam laksa was decent, satisfied my cravings.

Century egg, which I did not have a go, was trying to stuff other foods.

Sotong kangkung, isn't that just lovely. I'll give a tip, when my cousin did the ordering, he ordered one portion each for us, 9 plates. I thought he was mad, and mad he was, all the plates were polished nicely(okay am exaggerating, we tapaued 1 back to the hotel for the others).

Some snails from the sotong kangkung stall.

Octopus from the sotong kangkong stall, the other dish of the night I can't stop nibbling on.

Last but not least, the sotong bakar, a must order. Crispy, a bit brittle, dunk it in the sambal, uber delicious. Gurney Drive, one stop hawker centre for all your Penang food cravings, well most of it:)

The Mugshot Cafe @ Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia.

This round of my Penang trip, is mostly done on foot, I find it actually therapeutic. Parking is horrendous here. Went to Mugshot Cafe to meet up some old friends for brunch.

Nice layout, situated in one of those old shoplots.

Bright and airy spaces, some communal tables, some small tables for privacy.

As I was stuffed from the breakfast buffet spread, only had a latte from here. Can't find any fault with the quality of coffee here, good stuff. Oh yes, the staff was friendly and chatted a bit before my friends came over. Not bad, I will definitely come here next round I'm in Penang.

China House @ Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia.

Dinner tonight was at China House, I'm just following the crowd, and boy was it a pleasant experience. We managed to get a private room, there was actually 20+ of us. Pictures are a bit dark, sorry in advance and I didn't notice my fat fingers accidentally swiped the camera to square mode, zzzzz.

Cauliflower gratin, I actually adore this dish, sinful but yet healthy, I think. One of those comfort foods baked cheese uhmmm yummy.

Nacho chips with assorted topping, something to nibble before our mains. We actually had another starter dish which is not in the pic, mix platter of bread and dips. That was an excellent starter.

I totally forgot what dish this was. something crispy cheese with something something. Gee that explains a lot. If it helps, it tasted good though.

And for the mains, I opted to go for the ayam percik. They only use the thigh part of the chicken(YES), sauce was yummy. achar was refreshing and the rice was just nice.

The food is good, service was superb, and the ambience is what that made me love this joint. It's an interesting concept, basically they took over a shoplot house, and it occupies from the front all the way to the back, try imagining a shoplot and the corridors are say 200 metres? And they split it into different joints/concepts. I think I dined at BTB, they have Kopi-c, Library, 14 chairs, Vine & single, Courtyard and the back is Canteen. Asam Laksa @ Joo Hooi Cafe, Penang Road, Penang, Malaysia.

Touched down, dump my bags and off to satisfy my asam laksa cravings.

This place was packed, damn. Had to stand next to a table, while watching people finishing up their laksa. Luckily the dude was friendly and hurried up eating his laksa.

Ain't that just beautiful, and taste wise, yummy. Was tempted to order a second bowl, but guess I better save some tummy space and let other people take my seat. The place is chaotic, stuffy and hot, in out in a jiffy.

And the infamous cendol queue. I gave up and didn't manage to try it, oh well there's always next round. By the way I was sharing a table which I assumed was local, she mentioned if you order cendol from the helper in the coffee shop, it's not from this famous cendol stall but from another vendor.

This dude on top was smart, bring an umbrella!

Hokkien Mee @ Geylang, Singapore.

The hokkien mee at this coffee shop is well known, the queue is perpetually horrendous but you will get a window pocket of time, when there's no queue, so try your luck.

5sgd plate of hokkien mee, sinful but simply comfort food. Comes with three super fresh prawns, some greens, squid, cut chilli and sambal on the side. There's a reason why the stall is packed all the time, it's delicious! Enough said.

Huong Que Vietnamese Cuisine @ The Bedok Market Place, Singapore.

Yay at last managed to check out The Bedok Market Place, last round I was here too early and none of the shops was opened.

Ordered Pho Bo from Huong Que stall. Sliced beef and beef ball noodles in clear broth with koew teow.

Home made chilli, it actually packs a punch. Good stuff.

The broth is light but yet full of flavour. Kinda refreshing taste if you ask me. The beef slices was tender. A good bowl of noodles.
