Hakata Bunka-ya Curry Shop 博多文化屋カレー店 @ Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, Japan.

Not far from Udon Taira, 5mins walk is a MUST GO place if you're a fan of Japanese curry. This place brings back me back in time, looks like a cafe full of manga books back in the 90s. Too bad I can't read Japanese, if not I would probably be here everyday just reading the sheer volume of manga labels they have.

The outside of the restaurant is damn quirky, aiyak forgot to take a pic of the inside. Was too mesmerised by the smell of the curry. You can actually smell the curry from a few shoplots away. That's how I know it's gonna be good.

My last night in Fukuoka, I went for the oxtail curry on rice. First time I'm seeing a Japanese curry with such a dark colour. Oh my, the meat just slide off from the bone, soft and tasty. The curry? Damn sonnn, this is top notch. Thick, but not the jelak type, super addictive. Make sure add on the red pickle, pairs damn well with the curry. Highly recommended!

Love it, confirmed on my list next trip I'm back here.

Udon Taira うどん 平 @ Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, Japan.

Another udon contender worth checking out is this Udon Taira, my friend recommended this place. I'm really liking the various udon shops in this trip. The restaurant is clean, comfy and the turnover is fast. Ticked everything in my book.

Got English menu, order from the machine next to it.

I think it's a husband wife duo and maybe their children, a family run business. I might be wrong. Check out the loaded bowl below. Oh my, I wished I can eat that again now.

The bomb, noodles were perfect, broth was just nice for me and portions were generous, my tummy was extremely happy after the meal. Definitely on my list next trip I'm back in Fukuoka.

Daichi No Udon 大地のうどん 博多駅ちかてん @ Hakata Ekimae, Fukuoka, Japan.

Another round of udon and this round I went and checked out this place called Daichi No Udon. Seems their famous for their burdock and beef udon.

Again certain places only accept cash, there's an English menu, not to worry. The queue was daunting but goes by quite fast.

Portion was huge, udon was spot on. This is a very hearty meal. Love it! Worth to check it out if you're in the area.

Gyushin Ekimae Ten 牛心 駅前店 @ Hakata Ekimae, Fukuoka, Japan.

After dropping the car rental at the shop, I was too lazy to walk far for dinner. Dump our bags back at the hotel and we proceeded to this corner shop near our hotel. I've actually walked past this shop every night on the way back to hotel doing my highball and beer runs from FamilyMart or 7e. Looks like a mom and pop shop with the decor looks rusty, I had to check out this place at least once.

I kinda like the vibe of this place, feels old school and not packed with people, or maybe I just came at odd hours. There's pictures of menu and you order as usual from the vending machine.

Check out the vibe, so peaceful. I had the beef gyudon set, not bad, looks like a good portion.

My mate ordered the katsudon. Below was my gyudon after breaking the egg( I don't know why I was expecting a half boil egg, maybe I was missing my nasi lemak packet with half boil eggs on top, lol).

Oh yes, reminds me of Yoshinoya(which I regretted did not try in Japan, some people said it taste better in Japan) but I think this is better than the Yoshinoya I had outside of Japan. Honestly I wished we came here earlier on our trip to Fukuoka, I would have probably eaten this every one two days. This is one of my comfort go to meals, simple but definitely filling and taste damn good!

Ubuyama Place @ Aso District, Kumamoto, Japan.

After checking out from the ryokan and on the way back to Fukuoka City, we stopped by this restaurant called Ubuyama Place for lunch. This restaurant is like in the middle of nowhere. The views are simply stunning, lush countryside. I think the views itself was 5 star and what did we order? A pizza to share and one pasta each.

Blardy hell, the pizzas are to die for, simply good stuff. It seems they pride on themselves using local produce and it works! Everything was super fresh and simply delicious.

Pastas were generous portions even my friend was enjoying his meal(writing this down, I'm already craving the tomato pasta). If I was staying in this area, this will simply be my weekly hangout joint. The service staff was excellent, very attentive and friendly. Place vibe and the views are gorgeous. I am very impressed with this place. Thank you for having us!

Unakita うな北 黒川温泉店 @ Aso District, Kumamoto, Japan.

So we travelled to this town called Kurokawa known for its onsen for an overnight. Damn I love this small town, peaceful and kampong vibes. We stayed at one of the ryokans, beautiful. Another highlight of my Japan trip if you ask me. As we didn't book any dinner at our ryokan, the receptionist recommended this restaurant for us.

Cosy restaurant, shuts pretty early though. Ordered some fried crispy eel head for starters and some beers. Pairs damn well.

So far this trip haven't had unagi on rice yet. So this is one of my bucket list on this trip. Cooling weather with this comfy food. Oh yes, that hits the sweet spot. Perfect meal to end the day before retiring back at my ryokan. Of course on the way back there was a push cart by the street and had a few hot sakes to wash all the food down. Yummy!

Yakiniku Seikaen Nishinagazumi 本格焼肉清香園 西長住店 @ Fukuoka, Japan.

Was around this area to get some stuff and the sales lady recommended this place for dinner. Yakiniku! It was a Saturday night and the place is packed with diners. Had to wait for a bit before we got our table.

We just ordered a set from one of the menus for the two of us. Trust me, the portion was more than what we could eat. So better make sure your famished before coming here.

There were a bowl of salad, some beef(I think was tongue) and a bowl of bibimbap. This is for starter ya.

Check out the marbling on those beef cuts. The bbq pit is my first time seeing this, was gas and I think with some stones on it.

Another beef plate came in, damn this is a feast. On top of that the set comes with drinks and desserts. The meal was excellent.
