Hai Nan Xing Zhou Beef Noodles @ Toa Payoh, Singapore.

Beef noodles galore! Been reading online about this beef noodle stall in toa payoh. Had to go check it out.
Now while i was queuing, i already told myself am gonna get a dry beef noodle, halfway through queuing i saw alot of people going for the soup version. And yes, tried the soup version, did not regret it, wholesome goodness.

If there's a queue, it better be good. This was worth it.

Ordered a beef noodle soup with all the parts. Portions was generous, and the broth, finished it till the last drop. This stall is going to be one of my top favourites for beef noodles.

Necessary Provisions @ Eng Kong Terrace, Singapore.

Lazy sunday, head out to Eng Kong Terrace to try the coffee there. Tucked in a quiet suburb i love the atmosphere here. Pretty quiet, chill out over coffee with some friends.

Love the decor and ambience.

Now look at that, medium size latte at 5 bucks a pop. Good coffee. Good friendly staff. Nice place to chill and catching up with some friends. Oh they serve craft beers too, in case u fancy a beer after a hard days work.

Soto Ayam @ Adam Road Food Centre, Singapore

Previous post was for the appetizer to share, and this is my main. This soto ayam kicks ass, broth was flavorsome.

Ordered soto ayam with lontong(i think it's rice cakes). Looks plain right, but it packs a punch. The broth was how i imagined it to be, i wonder how long they boil it. And if u can take spicy, make sure u pour the chilli soya sauce dip. It brings out a totally new level of spicyness broth.

Adam's Indian Rojak @ Adam Road Food Centre, Singapore

I love this hawker centre, as it brings back some nostalgic memories. Stall today i'm writing about is Singapore rojak. It's different from Malaysian rojak as well the stuff you choose, well i think you have more varieties and spare parts(i love this bits).

Just look at that, to share between good friends, this stuff serves as a good appetizer before your main meal. Pick your liking and dip it in the sauce. Good stuff. Highly recommended.

Holy grail, so many varieties of stuffing, be it tofu, fish cake, sotong, prawns, beef lungs(spare parts!), potato and so many other stuff. It's like yong tau foo, but Indian Rojak style!

Zai Shun Curry Fish Head @ Jurong East, Singapore.

managed to round up some troops for sze char on saturday morning. Yes morning, lesser queue 1030am to be exact, to try the famous zai shun! And boy was it worth every penny, and not to mention the long ride.

ordered a fish head, and yes as numerous of blogs has mentioned, the fish was done very good. the side dishes was ok, fish cake was good, the sambal hebe was excellent, i can just eat the sambal with rice.

if you thought the fish was the star of the meal, try ordering this, shark cartillage, oh oh, this is a killer dish, full of lip smacking collagen goodness!

Another star dish, whole chicken in ginseng stock broth. Excellent, cured out my hangover immediately. No wonder this place is packed, it is definitely worth to travel for it. Affordable and good quality food. I need to make another round of visit to this place to try the other dishes they offer!

Wang Dae Bak Korean BBQ Restaurant @ Cross Street, Singapore.

A bit  hard to find the place, but the landmark is at the bottom of the pedestrian overhead bridge China Square side linking to Hong Lim. I have to say, this place actually serves good food.

Ordered some pork belly, beef ribs, as usual comes with a lot free side dishes, tofu soup and a seafood pancake. The side dishes was tasty, love it.

Pork belly was marinated nicely, ribs , i just can't get enough of the ribs!

And of course you have to wash everything down with a soju. Haven't had a good korean bbq food for quite some time, and this place is definitely one that i'll come back for.

Crab in da Bag @ East Coast Parkway, Singapore

seafood galore, cajun style i think. A place to get messy, have a decennt conversation with your friends, good seafood and loads of beer.

this is the Caboodle Boil Yabbies, a mixture of sort of seafood consists of a lobster, crabs, clams, potatoes, sausages prawns, yabbies, corn, and i think a king crab leg. No plates or nothing, all sat on wax table paper which doubles up as your plate. Dig in, dip it with your favourite sauce, and start enjoying good food. Sorry only one picture, friends were eager to start eating. Also do try their squid/sotong in a northern style curry sauce, and don't forget to order bread to dip the curry sauce with.

Claypot Loh Shee Fun @ Mama's Kitchen Restaurant, TTDI, KL, Malaysia.

Another post long overdue. At long last, finally had the chance to go and check out this restaurant. It's famous for its claypot loh shee fun. Rat tail noodles , minced pork on top, and a raw egg!

Just mix everything up and your ready to go. Had to order 2 vegetable dish, because we were feeling guilty eating the carb laden food, lol. The claypot was good, but it could have use a more chao tar (burnt) taste. Friend did say normally it was better, maybe tonight was a different cook or something. The vegetables was awesome, simple style and fresh.

Sari Ratu Restaurant @ Pahang Street, Singapore.

i was in need of speed, sorry i was in need of my nasi padang fix, and hell yeah i rode my bike speeding(legit speed of course). This place has been under my radar for quite some time, until one of my colleagues told me there's a branch here, and i was like skeptical. Did a google search and damn there is a sari ratu in singapore.

first time taking with flash on i4s, check this baby out. Chicken ,  beef , beef tendon and sambal petai(smelly beans).

another pic, sorry just goin goo goo ga ga over the food.

It brings back some nostalgic memories, as the first time i tried a nasi padang was in KL, Malaysia and it was Sari Ratu, a franchise from Indonesia. And i was hooked ever since. I dare say the outlet in Singapore brings back memories of the first time i've tasted a sari ratu nasi padang. Cbicken had a nice flavour in it, the tendon yes damn freaking good, the beef lungs was crispy, i liked mine soft, chewy. But the star is was the smelly beans, sambal petai. they are not shy with the petai, abundance of it.

I have to say it's not cheap compared to the rest, but you pay for the quality of food, you pay for what you get, and i have no qualms bout it.

Nasi Kandar Line Clear @ Penang, Malaysia.

If you google nasi kandar in Penang, theres a few infamous ones, and this is one of it. I think the standard has dropped a bit, but because of my teenage days, i would always go back to this stall when i'm in Penang to cherish my teenage days.

Messy, alot of dishes to choose from, walk up and queue and just hit what you wan't on your plate.

Fish head to share.

And this is my plate, sotong, fried chicken, fish roe deep fried(cholesterol bomb!) and some beef sparts.
It's a bit expensive in ringgit terms, but you have to try it. Good stuff.

Without fail, if when i do or i am in Penang, this is one of my stalls to come to for a Nasi Kandar fix. Expensive but i don't mind.

Nasi Kandar Line Clear,
177 Jalan Penang,
Georgetown, 10000,

Nasi Kandar Beratur @ Penang, Malaysia

Still from my Penang trip, must do is a good nasi kandar(malaysian indian muslim mixed riced). And this one was highly recommended for a good friend of mine. It's so infamous you have to literally queue when it opened. And best part it only opens late at night.

This placed opens at 10pm, and yes i do not wanna queues. So this picture was taken *ahem* 3am, i didnt wanna queue had to go few places to stay awake.

And this is the aftermath., it looks damn messy, but hey it lives up to its name. People queue for this nasi kandar, I have to say this is the bomb. I'm just happy i don't have to queue, trick is go late. The mixture of curry on rice, this is one nasi kandar i would check out repeatly in Penang.

Ah Leng Char Koew Teow @ Jalan Dato Keramat, Penang.

Another hawker dish die die must try in Penang is the Char Koew Teow(ckt). If you google char koew teow in Penang, this is one of the top stalls mentioned in numerous of blogs, and this is how i chance upon this ckt.

A bit expensive for a plate of ckt, but how this stalls differs, you have the option to add mantis prawns. Unique and worth it.

Sorry for the bad picture, but i was in a hurry to taste the ckt. Taste wise, a very good indeed plate of ckt. Nice wok hei, generous portions, and carbo laden plate. Good stuff.

Kafe Khoon Hiang,

Asam Laksa @ Air Itam Market, Penang, Malaysia.

If your in Penang, without no doubt one of the food that is definitely on the list is asam laksa. Sour tamarind, spicy yet robust taste. It's good stuff.

This stall was introduced to me from a friend, and yes it's one of the famous ones.

This place is a fast turnover. Grab a table, order your laksa, and in a few minutes you'll be served.

Lip smacking goodness. I'll guarantee you'll perspire washing this dish down.

A dallop of prawn paste/otak udang(the black sauce) coupled with slices of chilli on top of grounded fish flesh with other garnishings. This is one asam laksa, that i will always come back if i ever go to Penang. Old school setting, by the road side, crammed tables. Reminds me of my recess break in school canteen days. Wash the spicyness down with a glass of a fresh sugar cane juice.

Ipoh Hor Fun @ Restoran Thean Chun, Ipoh, Malaysia.

Old school, simple ingredients, hearty broth yet delicious with silky smooth koew teow/hor fun.

This particular stall in restoran Thean Chun in Ipoh serves one of the best ipoh koew teow soup or hor fun.

They have other stalls as well, worth checking out, especially the satay and poppiah, last i remembered. I was alone and in a rush, plus the place was packed, only ordered the ipoh hor fun, and was sitted in the next door coffee shop.

Simple looking dish ain't it. Strips of shredded chicken meat, on top of silky koew teow in a delicious soup with a hint of prawn stock. I can get used of having this for breakfast everyday. Comfort food. Now the other star dish u have to order is the beansprouts/taugeh. Crunchy taugeh dazzled in light soya sauce, and i think was a bit of sesame soil. Excellent.

Restoran Thean Chun,
73 Jalan Bandar Timah,
30000 Ipoh, Perak,
Malaysia.

Restoran New Hollywood @ Ipoh, Malaysia.

Woo hoo, one of my favourite breakfast place in Ipoh.

Basically it's a coffee shop with a few hawker stalls in it. Nice, and a hit with the local crowd, always packed.

Fried lor bak, a must order to share before your main meal. Just choose your items, and the Uncle will fry it and send it to your table, the sauce is excellent.

Char koew teow, now for a non pork char koew teow (by the way, all the stalls here are non pork), this dude knows how to fry his ckt. Excellent piece, nice wok hei, and the chilli sauce is awesome.

The other stall i normally order from is the Hong Kong chee cheong fun, but on this particular day it was closed. Good stuff as well.

Restoran New Hollywood,
38 Jalan Lee Kwee Foh,
Canning Garden, 31400 Ipoh,

Mee Poh Ikan Bakar @ Gourmet Square, Ipoh, Malaysia.

Ok, time to start cracking, new year, about time i post this up, collected from last quarter of eating spree.

Gourmet square consists of rows of hawkers. Ambience is good, perfect to chill out with a bunch of friends or families, knock back with a few bottles of beers, catch up, chit chat and enjoy good hawker food. A stall in particular is the Mee Poh Ikan Bakar stall. Without fail, this place tops for my ikan bakar in ipoh. The food has been consistent taste all this years and i keep going back every time i have the chance to.

Grilled Stingray, with the side sauce (ito die for!), just squeeze the green lime alot and enjoy. The other dish is a must order is the grilled squid/sotong. Although i always wished they give more sotongs than the vege, but hey i guess its inflation.

Just pick any hawker food that excites your palate there, i would say the quality is good. Another stall to watch out for is the Satay Endut, that shall be in my future post.

Gourmet Square,
Ipoh Garden,
Ipoh, Malaysia.

ps. ok sorry for the blur address, but you ought to google the place. Always know how to go but don't know the address lol.

L'Entrecote @ Suntec City Singapore

happy new year everyone, may 2014 be a good year for you! It's quite rare i eat lunch outside during weekdays, and luckily its a public holiday.

friends keep telling me about this place that serves steak and fries(with unlimited refills of fries).
and boy its worth it.

Talk about timing, their sets are reasonably priced. Opted for the light set.

Salads you can't go wrong normally. Decent portion, just nice.

Now for the main star, chose medium rare. Steak was good, sauce was lovely. Some will cream me for eating steak with mustard, but i am a kampong(village) boy at heart, who cares. They do provide the yellow mustard, but i prefer the ones with seeds in it. Now i have to say, its been quite some time i had nice french fries, these ones are crunchy and thin. It's good and it's limitless you can order. All in all fairly priced meal, and i couldn't finish the light portion. Damn, and i didn't even had a chance to refill the fries.
