Ipoh Town Kopitiam @ Jewel Changi Airport, Singapore.

Friend dragged me here before our flight just for Ipoh food zzz.

I went for the Ipoh hor fun and he went for the nasi lemak. I had zero expectations. But boy I can tell you this place is legit Ipoh food in Singapore. Yes a bit pricey airport prices but I got two proper sized prawns and the portions were good. The foo chuk, yeah we call it foo chuk, is the cleanest tasting ones I've tasted before (am sure they ditch the old oils from refrying). I would say it's the ones I get in Ipoh but with premium items or maybe I haven't had the home cooked version before. I am very happy to tried tasted this style of Ipoh Hor Fun.

Now the nasi lemak is equally good, sambal was nice, fried chicken was superb too. This is actually a wholesome meal. Heavy but worth ordering if you're having a bad hangover. I maybe be bias(I paid for this meal), but if you're ever in Jewel Changi, this place is worth checking out. Try it and let me know in the comments.

Kedai Makan Muhajirin @ Toa Payoh, Singapore.

A 1 sgd nasi lemak packet in Singapore? Off I went to check out this special gem in Toa Payoh Lor 7. They sell other stuff too, so fret not if you're not a nasi lemak lover.

So the 1 sgd comes with a slice of cucumber, omelette, peanuts, sambal and your choice of ikan bilis or ikan kuning. Or you can opt for both ikan bilis and ikan kuning for sgd 1.50. Portion was just nice for me, taste wise, yeap it hits the spot. Been back here twice now for the nasi lemak.

Kopitiam Kita @ Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia.

Breakfast at Kopitiam Kita before we departed back to KL. Tonnes of food to choose from, I really like the breakfast spread.

The must order here is the roti titab. Also had a nasi lemak for some extra carbs.

Nasi Lemak Ujang Corner @ Batu Caves, KL, Malaysia.

If you're around Batu Caves and fancy a nasi lemak, do check out this place. I was in a hurry to tapau, didn't snap that many pictures, but as you can see from the menu, the is quite a variety of dishes to pair with your nasi lemak.

I took nasi lemak + sotong. Tastewise? Awesome! Portions were good and they are not stingy with their sambal.

Nasi Lemak @ Dapur Kak Za @ Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.

Nasi Lemak in Kampung Melayu Subang. Come early for breakfast here, some of the dishes are sold out by the time I got here 9ish am.

Sambal is super good, taste like those home cooked ones. I took some spare parts and sambal petai. Honestly this is one good nasi lemak that I can actually eat just the rice with sambal on its own.

Another nasi lemak early breakfast tapau joint, off I went to check it out. Number is there if you wanna bulk order.

Yup what a messy tapau it was, pic doesn't do it justice. Taste wise, yummy. Absolutely hangover cure for the bangsar folks.

MamaLee Nasi Lemak @ DU, PJ, Selangor, Malaysia.

Came here over the weekend for brunch, clean comfortable spacious place. They have quite a few items on the menu but we're here for the nasi lemak! My first time here by the way.

You can have a normal nasi lemak or you can do the works with ayam, prawn, petai or sotong.

Above is the fried chicken and below is the rendang. Everyone ordered their individual and we added on some sides.

I had the sotong petai which was awesomeee. Nasi lemak is good and best part there was no queue. Or maybe I went during off peak hours.

Kedai Makanan Hailam Sun Sun Nam Cheong @ Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor, Malaysia.

I'm still on a prowl for a mean Hainanese chicken chop. So when a friend texted on a random weekend asking to go this Hainam kopi tiam in KKB, I was delighted to check it out.

We ordered a mee hailam to share and one chicken chop each. Food was good, but I'm still on the hunt for the old school taste of a Hainam chicken chop. Not sure whether ingredients has changed, or the cooking style or maybe it's just the commercial farmed chicken.

Oh they also sell nasi lemak packet, decent.

Lisette's Cafe & Bakery @ Bangsar, KL, Malaysia.

If you fancy a good brunch spread, I reckon you should check out this spot. Be warned though, the queue can be long.

Friend had the buffet, not bad on the selections, quite a few varieties. The usual stuff on the menu with some Asian influence.

As for me, what else. Ordered the big breakfast of course. Good stuff, definitely one of the better ones I had in KL. A good place for brunch and the best part? All day breakfast is served!

Choon Guan Coffee Shop 偆園茶餐室 1956 @ Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.

Was recently introduced to this place by a friend of mine and I'm loving it. Looks like an authentic rustic Hainanese kopi shop.

First time here I had the steamed bread with butter kaya , half boil eggs and a kow kopi. Beautiful.

We also ordered chicken rice to share(they also do the rice balls). I would say one of the tastiest chicken rice I've tasted. Friend ordered the nasi lemak with sotong and fried chicken. It looked so good, I had a bite of the rice and sambal, awesome. Bloody hell, so far all the food I tasted here is good.

Second visit here I wanted to try the ytf stall, but it was sold out by the time I reach there at 10am. Ended up I ordered a fishball noodle soup from that stall, it was good. Funny story here, three out of 5 of us rocked up to this place with a bag of yu tiao, talk about yu tiao overload.

Oh my, bonus tip is the soon kueh, to die for. Haven't had a good soon kueh for some time and this hits the spot. The yu tiao and soon kueh is from the stalls on the main road before you turn left into the junction of Choon Guan. This place is good, service is fast and best part the people here are friendly.

Restoran Nur Anggerik @ USJ 2, Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.

Time for some nasi lemak action for dinner and boy did I bring a lot of backups to sample all the mouth watering dishes. We just went nuts and order almost everything.

I think that was ayam rendang on top. Below four types of vege, tempe or is that potato as well?

Pic at the bottom should be some cockles, sotong, beef rendang and lungs.

And I think this was the ayam masak merah. Simple nasi lemak served on top of a banana leaf with anchovies, nuts and cucumber plus a fried egg on top. Now check that sambal out, absolutely a killer. Honestly, I'm a bit old fashioned, gimme the nasi plus some anchovies and nuts, a LARGE dollop of sambal, I'm happy. Food is good here, enough said.

Oh still not enough from the nasi lemak fiesta, we ordered some satay to share. Not bad, meaty and had some nice bits of fats in it. Blimey, I should have added some sambal into the satay sauce. Oh well there's always a next time.

Bonus tip, roti padang try it! The satay and roti padang we ordered from the stalls opposite the restaurant.
