Hainanese Chicken Rice @ Chatterbox, Mandarin Orchard, Singapore.

At long last, I've managed to check out the famous chicken rice at Chatterbox.


We ordered the taugeh/beansprouts to share. Quite decent, tasty, the ikan bilis added a nice touch.


The infamous chicken rice, chose the thigh part. Pricey, generous portions.


How did it fare? Good, but the price is a bit pricey, but heck I guess if you're situated smack in the middle of Orchard, the rental is expensive. Plus you pay for the comfort and convenience. The chicken was tender, succulent and the skin was delicious. The condiments and chilli packed quite a punch, the bowl of soup on the side was pretty pleasant.

Fried Mee Suah @ Katong, Singapore.

Was in search for a quick breakfast around East Coast, and after a few places Ali Baba Eating House at Katong had a few tables empty. There's a few stalls which is worth to mention here but as it was early, Yong Huat stall was open at this hour for breakfast. I ordered the legendary fried mee suah.



This guy really can cook a mean fried mee suah. The taste was just on a different level, maybe it's the oil, or was it the sambal, This is a very hearty meal. Portions are huge and it should fill you up for the next few hours or maybe to dinner. Love it to bits.

PS. Cafe @ Ann Siang Hill Park, Singapore.

What's not to love about brunch, comfort food nursing a hangover, with good conversation with a bunch of friends. I never knew of this place existence, until my friend called me over for brunch here. What a gem it was, decor was cosy, staff was attentive, and you know what's the best part, no children allowed, just nice when you have a bad hangover.




I'm a bit of a traditionalist, a good big breakfast which consists of sausages, beans, eggs (poached my favourite) mushroom and tomatoes with toasted bread. Portions is huge, taste wise pretty decent. Good stuff. They have an extensive menu and daily specials.

No Signboard Seafood Restaurant @ Geylang Road, Singapore.

Had some cravings for crabs, suggested to a mate of mine to No Signboard at Geylang. Its been awhile since I was back here, food was still good as I recalled last time.


 Fresh oysters to start, huge and tasted good.


I love bamboo clam, and this place does it well. Soya sauce, garlic, spring onions and tang hoon, excellent.

Seafood haw fun, the noodles had a bit of the wok hei. Good stuff.


 Salted egg yolk prawns, very very addictive, was slurping the gravy.


Their signature dish is the white pepper crab, my first time trying it as I'm accustomed to either chilli or black pepper crab. Boy oh boy, I think I've found another favourite crab dish. The taste is subtle yet it has a nice zing to it.

Ikoi Japanese Restaurant @ Hotel Miramar, Havelock, Singapore.

Ala carte buffet menu galore, and it's about time I went over and check this place. This place is normally packed, a reservation is recommended.


Some freshly cut sashimi, the usual stuff.


The one on the right is the crispy salmon skin roll, loved it.


Stir fry udon.


Some cherry tomatoes.


California maki, I kinda liked this. They do this well here.


I've recently learnt to appreciate shishamo. It has this rich taste and goes down well with beers.


Grilled mackerel, beautifully done.


Cold soba.


Grilled chicken skewer.


Curry on rice was good, only managed to had a spoonful, as by this round I was stuffed. Good place for a catch up with some friends over good food. I would definitely be back.

Elegant Inn Hong Kong Cuisine @ Menara Hap Seng, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Yeah, back here for the dim sums, this place has yet to disappoint me. My mate did the ordering so please forgive me which dish is which.


Some mushrooms and white bait fish deep fried. Good stuff, loved the white bait. Only missing is the beers to pair it with.


Chee cheong fun with something deep fried stuffing. This was absolutely stunning. You get the soft texture of the ccf and yet when you bite, you get the crunchy effect.


 Siu mai not bad.


 This is actually sinful, but it tasted damn good. Fried bread with prawn toppings.


Pan fried carrot cake, one of my old time favourites.


We had to order a second portion as the fried bread was delicious. There was actually more dishes, but we were happily eating till I forgot to take some pics. The food is good, a bit pricey but the quality is excellent. Oh the service is top notch. Kudos to the staff for a pleasant lunch.

Super Loco @ Robertson Quay, Singapore.

Mexican food craving, and had to test this place out based on the good reviews, and boy were they right.


A michelada concoction which consists of beer, tomato juice, lime and spices. quite a refreshing drink actually.


 hmm, I forgot what is this, can somebody help me out, but I recall it taste damn good though.


Ceviche de Mango, the only dish I was actually aiming for, and boy was it good. Good stuff.


 A fish taco, quite good actually. Had some other variation of tacos, still good.


Quesadillas, can't recall which one though, but I remember it was good.


And the last dish of the night, my friend ordered this, a beef dish with some marination, very well executed.  The ambience is nice, food is good, and the staff us super friendly. Good place for a chill out session.

Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice @ Maxwell Food Centre, Singapore.

Call me bias or what, first time I've tried Tian Tian chicken rice, I never looked back. There's other chicken rice which is equally or near good, but this stall in Maxwell always have a sentimental spot for me as this was my first stall I had my Singapore Hainanese chicken rice.


This round I was pressed for time, had to do a tapau/take away.


Chicken rice with a side dish of beansprouts and cuttlefish. Everyone has their own style of eating it, and mine is sprinkle the thick dark soya sauce.


Add a generous dollop of chilli with a bit of garlic. Good stuff. Chicken is moist and tender. The beansprouts was crunchy, cuttlefish perfectly done and the chilli sauce is a killer. A good wholesome meal.

The Public Izakaya @ 100AM, Tanjong Pagar, Singapore.

If your looking for a good happy hour deal with good food, this place fits the bill. The beers are affordably priced, and if I'm not mistaken the happy hour runs till late.


Chicken cartilage, crunchy and goes down well with beer.


Tsukune/chicken balls on the left of the pic and chicken skin on skewers on the right. The tsukune was juicy and nice. Be very careful with the chicken skins, as it's highly addictive when u pair it withe the beers.


Now this is the favourite for me, kani gratin. Baked crab with cheese, absolute comfort food.



Kani Miso, baked crab with miso. Not bad, but I reckon I'll go for the baked cheese option instead.


Monk fish liver, rich and creamy, goes well with the cracker provided. The food is good, the alcohol is decently priced, I think they know the winning combination, as this place can get very packed.

Fat Cow Burger @ Temple Street, Chinatown, Singapore.

A burger joint smacked right in the center of Chinatown. Had to check it out based on numerous of good reviews I've read, and boy were they right.



Pic above is the Fat Moo Mooo Burger. Beef patty, with pulled beef, semi charcoal bun, with the works, salad on the side, and thick wedges. All this for a whopping 18 sgd and you'll get a free soft drink as well. Talk about being easy on the wallet, and the taste? A very good burger. I like it. Beef patty was fine, portions is generous, the wedges was done perfectly. I think I've found my next favourite burger place.

Vegetarian Bee Hoon @ Maxwell Food Centre, Chinatown, Singapore.

Back here in Maxwell Food Centre to do some tapau for breakfast, and my usual stall was closed. I found this vegetarian bee hoon stall instead, what a hidden gem. Simple and unassuming.


Some of the vegetarian dishes available, honestly my favourite is the tofu skins. The rest are just mock flours disguised as meats, not bad, but the tofu is still the best. Oh sorry, they have cabbages as well, I think. Honestly I know nuts about veges.


Being a non vege person, this actually tasted good. I love it. You have the option of translucent gravy, spicy gravy, or non. I tasted both translucent and spicy gravy, both equally good. Dishes look simple, affordable on the wallet, taste wise on par with my breakfast favourites. I shall be back for more.

Por Kee Eating House (1996) @ Tiong Bahru, Singapore.

I've always wanted to try this sze char place for quite some time, and as luck would have it, we ended up here for dinner as the original venue for dinner was closed.  This place can get packed, please call for reservation in advance if you require indoor seating. We were lucky we came on a weeknight and managed to get a table outside.


The tofu/beancurd was absolutely delicious. This was my favourite dish for the night.


Chicken was good, I'm not a fan of breast, so I might be a bit bias to say it was a bit dry to my liking.


Sorry for the bad pic, was eager to dig in. Grouper fish cooked in thai style if I'm not mistaken. Fish was excellent, fresh and the flesh was moist. The broth was sweet sour, very addictive. All in all a good dinner. I would suggest pick an outdoor sitting, open air by the car park, under the stars in a quiet neighbourhood. For a moment there I thought this wasn't Singapore.
