Marutama Ramen @ Killiney Road, Singapore.

Back to my ramen craving, been wanting to try this place out ( they have several branches in Singapore) managed to try it today. Ordered a spicy ramen with additional egg and seaweed.

Comes with a piece of char siew. And loads of seaweed, seriously loads, good stuff.

The broth is alright, but add some condiments, sesame seeds, chilli flakes and fried garlic, seriously the garlic added another extra dimension to the bowl. A very good piece of ramen bowl, and I think the portion of noodles served here is slightly more than the other shops.

Ting Heng Seafood Restaurant @ Tiong Bahru, Singapore.

My version of steamboat loads of beers, bunch of mates and loads of good food. That's what communal eating is about, and this place has an old quaint setting in a hipster neighbourhood. Anyway the food here is good, so far I've been here a couple of times in the past 3 years, I think the standard has maintained.

First of all, sorry for the lighting as the place is badly lit. Secondly I didn't do the ordering, I trust my mates to order the dishes, and thus being said, yes it's pork spare parts above. I let the pictures speak for themselves.

Yeap, carnivore heaven, meat and more meat. Some beef slices, fish slices, scallops, pork, prawns, tofu and some greens(which no pics) lol.

Sliced fish.

Stuffed tofu resting on top. Anyway not sure what was it, but my friend ordered fried fish bones or something to add in the steamboat soup. That added an extra flavor to the broth. Very nicely indeed. The setting, the ambience, the quality of food, it's one of my favourite haunts for communal eating.

Ichiban Boshi @ Great World City, Singapore.

One of my favourite joints during off peak hours to grab a quick bite. Normally I'll get two or three, maybe four aha plates of sushi and an udon or something. They have an off peak menu at the moment as per below, decided to try one.

 Sushi is pretty decent standard.

This is the off peak set, tori chazuke, deep fried chicken pieces on rice, comes with an egg, and a pot of green tea, which you add to the bowl and mix it all up.

It's not bad, portion a bit small, but hey for 5 bucks? I'm not complaining. A tip, the queue here can be horrendous during lunch or dinner time.

Keng Heng (Whampoa) TeoChew Lor Mee @ Golden Mile Food Centre, Singapore.

I'm not accustomed of having lor mee, but when I first tried it, it reminds me of a sharks fin soup but bigger version with extra stuff ie noodles fish etc etc. This is a hearty meal, as the gravy is a bit starchy, I seldom eat it, but once in a while, I'll have the craving for it, and thank god my colleague did a take away for me for lunch in the office.

Check that out, noodles at the bottom, thick starchy gravy, with braised pork, and the red coloring on top? The sambal belacan coupled with chili padi. This is not a dish for the faint hearted, the sambal belacan is killer spicy. Honestly I actually craved for the spicyness, this dish make me sweat after a few spoonfuls.

It comes with fried fish skins, fried wanton, fish cake, fish, and ngoh hiang. As I mentioned earlier, its a wholesome meal. Nice!

Mix it all up, this stalls serves a decent lor mee. Thumbs up!

Xiu Ji Ikan Bilis Yong Tau Fu @ Chinatown, Singapore.

Another favourite haunts for my breakfast, if I can be here before 730am, if not be prepared to queue. Trust me on this, I got here at 650am, took me roughly 15 minutes before I got served. But if you persevere, you'll be rewarded, as this stall serves one of the wicked ytf around, freaking good.

Stall busying churning out yong tau fu, freshly made everyday. This is as fresh as it can get.

For 3sgd, you can get a bowl of noodles with 6 pieces of ytf. I normally prefer my noodles dry, and in this case bee hoon, you can opt for other noodles. The ikan bilis(anchovies) add a nice flavour to the bowl, different, but excellent. And yes, I like it spicy, hence the extra chilli on top.

Lovely ytf in soup, good stuff.

Today, was being extra greedy, ordered 2 fish cakes on the side which cost 80 cents each. The chilli here is extra spicy compared to normal standards, to die for. I don't know what they put in it, but absolutely addictive, I was actually sweating on a cold morning having this.

Tsukada Nojo @ Chinatown Point, Singapore.

This restaurant was notorious for its queues, but boy was I happy to come here on a weekend at 1145 am and managed to get a table without a queue. I guess the fad has died down a bit, or maybe there's 2 more outlets one being in Plaza Singapura and the other at Westgate. And yes the crowd did slowly packed the place from 12pm onwards. It's famous for its chicken collagen hotpot.

This is how it look like when it was first served, all the awesome goodness of chicken soup.

Once the gel has been melted by the heat, the server will help pour the broth into a small cup, for you to try the broth in it's original taste. Comes with 2 parts of chicken, one thigh and drumstick.

Some condiments chilli paste, yuzu paste, leek oil and japanese soya sauce.

The server helping to prepare the ingredients for the hotpot. Sorry didn't managed to take a picture of the hotpot items before being served. It's basically chicken rice balls, lettuce, prawns, noodles, and a few other vegetables.

Now isn't that a beautiful picture, all the awesome goodness of chicken soup and colors from the vegetables. The stock or the broth, is one of the best I've tasted, the ingredients are fresh. The server recommended the thick mochi noodle, she was right, love the texture of it. I foresee myself coming back here soon, very soon, with more friends of course. By the way, the staffs here are a nice bunch, they somehow emit an aura of friendly happy people. I came in grumpy after a late night out, walked out cheerful, and of course with a stuffed tummy.

Shirokane Tori-Tama Singapore @ Robertson Walk, Singapore.

A yakitori joint which specialise in chicken, and when I say chicken, almost every part imaginable it can be. Good bunch of friends, over loads of sake, good food, what's not to love.

The guys who's hard at work churning out our yakitori sticks. They did an excellent job.

Some salad, with shredded seaweed on top, nicely done. At least I can tell my mom I did have some vege for dinner.

I'm not sure what this is, but it was recommended by the server. Taste like pickled/preserved root. It actually tasted good.

Bear with me, as the night progressed, the sake was kicking in harder, and I tend to forget what is what dishes I had, aha. I know for a fact the thing on the right is the chicken balls, love it.

Japanese tomatoes, oh my, to die for. Beautiful to look at, even nicer when you eat it. Sweet on its own, pair it with a bit of salt, it compliments well.

Beef tongue on the left.

Beef tongue thick and chewy, one of my favourite yakitori for the night. Pictured on the right is the in-house chilli paste, not too spicy, it goes well with the yakitoris.

If I can correctly recall, this is chicken skin, heh didnt't I tell you, I feel less sinful now after having that bowl of salad earlier.

Another greens, we gotta balance our diet right.

Chicken liver! The picture tells it all, lovely.

Mid ribs or something, this is good, very meaty. There were some other sticks we ordered, but due to unforeseen circumstances *hics*, I'll just leave it as that. They do serve a bit of pork and beef dishes, but the star is the chicken. The server is very helpful, just tell them what you prefer, or would like to try, or ask them for recommendations. I have to admit, I'm bias as this is by far my favourite yakitori joint. Just make sure you call in advance for reservations, bring some good mates, order a lot of sakes, and enjoy the food.

Nam Nam Noodle Bar @ Suntec City Mall, Singapore.

If there's one food that I don't mind eating everyday, is beef noodles or pho (Vietnamese beef noodle soup). This restaurant a bit upmarket, for the prices you pay, but you'll get a decent bowl.

This outlet at suntec is bigger and more comfortable. Ok this pic was taken before the lunch hour crowd, 11ish am. I did a takeaway.

Pho beef combination, you name it, it's in there, except the cow brains though, aha. The broth is decent, i love the beef balls, somehow this is the star, tendon was good, slices of beef was good, the tripe was ok. Excellent fast service.

Kamala Restaurant @ Tekka Market, Singapore.

Sunday morning breakfast, and i'm craving for some good old fashioned thosai. Did some quick search online, haven't been to this place, decided to check it out.

Mutton masala, it look's a bit funky, but it taste damn fine. Not a bad masala, reminds me of my childhood memories.

Now this masterpiece is called ghee onion thosai, check the ghee oozing on the plate.

Add some dhall, some orange coloured gravy, heaven on earth. Mix it up further with some fish curry, this thosai is the bomb. Now I came here and ordered two pieces of thosai, the greedy side got better of me, as i couldn't even finish one piece, it was that huge! Top if off with ginger milk tea, it was a good breakfast indeed.

The Fishball Story @ Golden Mile Hawker Centre, Singapore.

As always around 930-10am at work, some of us will be scratching the heads what's for lunch. Then a colleague of mine showed a link , mee pok fish ball for lunch? And bam I was at Golden Mile doing the takeaways.

Thank god I arrived here shortly before 11am, beat the queue.

How does it taste? Freaking good. Fishball was bouncy, my favourite was the sliced fish cake, it's different but yet tasty. The sambal was delicious and lard was crunchy. This is going to be one of my favourite stalls for fishball noodles.

Bangkok Jam @ Raffles City, Singapore.

Craving for Thai food and chance upon Bangkok Jam in Raffles City. Wanted to have the usual tomyam soup with rice, till I saw they have beef noodle soup!

Nice presentation, portions are generous, love the silky koew teow, broth was good, but the meat is alright.

Soto Ayam @ Raimah Eating House, Singapore.

Last time I was around here I had a roti john, this round for a quick bite opted for the soto ayam instead with lontong(steamed rice cake).

A beautiful broth, with shredded chicken pieces, and beansprouts, begedil (potato cutlet) with lontong below. The killer is the black chilli sauce, added a nice zing to the soup. Cheap fast quick bite, lovely.

Sin Swee Kee Restaurant @ Seah Street, Singapore.

This two streets has eluded me so far, Purvis Street and Seah Street, parallel to each other. There's a bunch of restaurants and eateries here, decided to check it out on a Sunday morning. Was here a little bit early just before 11am, and most are not opened yet. Decided to try the chicken rice at Sin Swee Kee Restaurant, they opened at 11am.

A typical chicken rice, with a bowl of clear soup. I have to say, quality is there, the chicken skin was smooth,  meat was juicy and succulent, rice just nice on the flavour.

The condiments! yes the thick soya sauce, coupled with the ginger(green colour stuff) and chilli sauce, it's so good I smothered it all over the chicken. Honestly, the picture above didn't do justice, I actually topped a lot more, but didn't turn up good when taking pictures aha.

SweetSpot Deli @ Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

I'm a sucker for sandwiches, maybe while growing up mom always ordered a club sandwich to keep me stay put and don't run around in the club. And now once in a while, I have to get my sandwich fix. A quick takeaway from mbs for lunch in the office.

Now check this baby out, pastrami sandwich large at 14sgd. Doesn't it look awesome(or sinful).

Comes with a huge coleslaw in the middle. This baby is one of the best sandwiches I had recently. Highly recommended!

I was being a bit greedy that day, order a smoked salmon bagel to share with a colleague of mine. It comes with a generous slapping of cream cheese, and tonnes of smoked salmon. This picture is just half of the bagel, the other half my colleague already munched down. For 13sgd, it's huge! Hmm honestly I can't choose which one is the best of the two lots, I wished next time they can come up with a combo, half and half.
